Medical Education Committee (OCG)

Strengthening and connecting medical education in the Netherlands. That is the goal of the Medical Education Committee (OCG).

The OCG is an official advisory body for UMCNL. The OCG advises the Research & Education Committee of UMCNL on educational matters, both on request and on its own initiative. The OCG meets five to six times a year to discuss matters relating to medical training programmes. These include selection, lotteries, numerus fixus, progress tests, student welfare, programme accreditation, international accreditation for medical studies (WFME) and the implementation of the 2020 Framework Plan.

Representation

The OCG represents the programme directors (or vice-deans) of medical programmes in the Netherlands. Two student advisors are also part of the committee. These are students who are appointed every two years by UMCNL, with one of the two students changing each year to ensure continuity. Representatives from the dentistry, technical medicine and veterinary medicine programmes are also part of the committee.
