Bestuurlijk Overleg Lichte Structuur (BOLS) Foundation

Through the BOLS Foundation, UMCNL, the NVZ (Dutch Association of Hospitals) and the FMS (Federation of Medical Specialists) advise the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) on the distribution of training places.

Agreements are also made between BOLS and the ministry regarding the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of the training programmes. The starting point for the BOLS foundation is to ensure that sufficient professionals are trained to meet the demand for care. The foundation distributes the nationally available places per specialism across the Training and Education Regions (OORs). The OORs allocate the places to healthcare institutions within their region.
